The photo above is of the Valley of the Gods, an isolated sanctuary of towering buttes and spires in the deserts of southern Utah. My journeys have taken me to places both similar and vastly different: the summits of rocky peaks; amid high desert grasslands; beneath soaring canyon walls; and by the frigid shores of alpine lakes. I love the outdoors, and feel extremely lucky to get to do what I love. This site is a highlight reel of my adventures from out where the mountains beckon.

New Photo Album. In May, we traveled to Moab, Utah to check out Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. They were both spectacular, and Arches was surprisingly unique, with its breathtaking natural bridges, and petrified sand dunes that stretch out for miles. It sure was hot out there in the Moab desert! Back then I completed our video, but never got around to uploading our photo albums, until now. First one is of Arches National Park. Enjoy! ■

Book Review: Enduring Patagonia by Gregory Crouch was an excellent read. Alpinist Crouch writes vividly as he tells of life in the jagged, 10,000-foot mountains of the Patagonian Andes, where wind and storms pummel this isolated region at the tip of South America. He describes what it means to climb "alpine style", i.e. light, fast and in groups of two or three, as opposed to "expedition style" as on Everest.

The only thing I didn't like about the book was his occasional snooty tone as he described his passion and the camaraderie among climbing's elite. But his writing style is impeccable, and the honest portrayal of his trepidation in Patagonian storms, thousands of feet above the ground, is riveting. Highly recommended for those who like a good adventure, or to learn about our planet's wild, exotic places.

Online resources to share. Many friends have asked about various creative projects on this site and how I develop them. I'm sharing some of the software and utilities I use that are available online, and they are listed on my Resources page. ■

New video. Our Colorado Rockies video is ready for viewing! This took me two weeks, so you guys'd better like it!

Large WMV (640x480)
Small WMV (320x240)

This little movie will take you along on our three hikes: Sky Pond, Chasm Lake and the summit of Mount Ida, along with our day-long drive on Trail Ridge Road. RMNP's main highway is the highest continuous motorway in the US, at its highest point more than 12,000 feet above sea level, offering views of many mountain ranges and valleys all over the park.

About a hundred photos out of 1600 were selected to tell of our journey, to a song by the band Train. I'm very pleased with the result, and I hope you'll like it, too. Enjoy!
